Enjoy a Taste of Easton Mountain at Home

Penny, our kitchen director, has posted instructions for making Granola on the door of our kitchen.

Here is an easier-to-read version, like one you would find in a cook book:

  • 3 cups rolled oats
  • 3 cups of a combination other grains, nuts, and seeds
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil, melted butter, or coconut oil or a combination of oils (if you want your granola to clump, substitute egg whites for half of the oil)
  • Optional spices: cardamom, cinnamon, nutmeg
  • 1/2 to 1 cup dried fruit

Heat your oven to 300° F,

Mix your oats with your grains, nuts and seeds

If using a combination of oils, mix them all together (with the egg white if you're using it).

Combine the wet and dry ingredients, along with the optional spices,

Spread the mixture out in a large flat baking pan. Bake for 30-40 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.

Add dried fruit.

Store in a container with a tight cover.

Serve with milk and fresh fruit or use as a topping on ice cream, pudding or other deserts
