Like any other day
This morning, like most, I started the day with a good cup of coffee and a dose of NPR. Today, like most, the stories were a strange juxtaposition of tragic news and entertaining puff pieces. Murder in Gaza, botched executions and the cruel treatment of refugee children from Central America was lightened up with a story about a day for dogs in Washington. The return of the K9s from Afghanistan who were referred to as pets and "vets” in the piece had a heart tugging quality that no dog lover could miss. Then it all got me thinking that perhaps my fellow Americans would understand my politics better if I simply said; “I only expect my country to treat all human beings as I treat my dog”. It's that simple.
