watching for the light advent retreat banner

This retreat is open to people of all genders, orientations and expressions

During the season of Advent, Christians prepare themselves to celebrate the coming of God at Christmas.  It is a season for making ourselves ready to meet God in a new way and to deepen our intimacy with the Light of the Spirit.  During this retreat you will be invited to discover how God desires to still be born in our lives and communities as the Light that scatters away the darkness.  What implications does this hold for a group of LGBTQ people who desire greater faith, hope, and love in their lives and relationships?  What does the queer face of God look like?  How do I relate to my own darkness as I watch for the Light?  During this weekend retreat you’ll enjoy the quiet beauty of Easton Mountain on the verge of winter.  In the solitude of this special season you’ll have the opportunity to slow down and step back from your life and reflect on where you are and where Spirit might be inviting you in the year ahead.

There will be plenty of time to be alone as well as time to join with each other for discussions, prayer, and community building. We will begin and end each day by gathering for shared prayer.  You’ll have the opportunity to attend various sessions throughout the retreat designed to inspire body, mind, and spirit.  We’ll share delicious home cooked meals together and allow our conversations to enrich our shared experience. This retreat is for anyone who wants to celebrate the Christian path to God, whether or not you consider yourself Christian in a formal sense.  People of all faiths are welcome, as are genuine spiritual seekers open to the message and symbols of the Christian tradition.  As Jesus told his first disciples, “Come and see.”
