SINGLES WEEKEND PERFORMER - Garry Novikoff is a genre-bending, multi-award winning singer/songwriter and composer. His many diverse honors include a nomination for a Tony Award for his work as music and drama educator as well as receiving the ASCAP Foundation Joe Raposo Award for Children’s Songwritng.” Time Out New York has called Garry’s first solo CD A Normal Life “a catchy – and more importantly funny – collection of pop songs.” “I Like Men,” which he calls a “deceptively innocent pop song with an agenda,” was a favorite on Sirius and multiple internet radio stations, and has become YouTube sensation. His folk song “Dog on the Moon” has been broadcasted on stations across the country and was featured on The Discovery Channel. Garry’s marriage equality dance anthem “It’s Our Time” garnered him two Out Music Award nominations; Single of the Year and Humanitarian Songwriter of the Year. In the early 2000’s The Duplex Theater independently mounted “Take A Number: The Songs Of Garry Novikoff,” a revue of his musical works which lead to his MAC Manhattan Association of Cabaret and Clubs Award nomination. His songs have been covered by cabaret artists and punk bands alike. Other projects include his experimental chamber rock band Angels In The Chamber, finalists in the WYNC/WBGO Battle of the Bands. Angels is gearing up for their debut release in early 2019. Garry is also is part of the alternative vocal duo The Lovers who re-imagine songs from the girl group, doo wop, and British Invasion era with just a soupćon of gender play. He is also a composer of instrumental piano pieces. One of his works, “Snow Falling For Karen” had its debut in July of 2018 at the Anapale Dance Festival in Athens Greece with the Illuminations Dance Troupe. So, in short, Garry is a rebel, a rocker, a folkie, a cabaret artist, a children’s songwriter, a composer, and an all round musical Renaissance man.
