In his professional life, Mike Shaps is a school psychologist, a doctoral student and an advocate for people with disabilities. His professional interests lie within the area of diversity and cultural differences, especially people newly arrived to our country. In his 30 years of being a social worker and psychologist, he has facilitated many groups and presented on many topics including healthy relationships and understanding the self. In his personal life, Mike is a single parent of a 19-year-old son, a pop culture enthusiast, and a student of Buddhism. Born and bred in New York, he has also lived in San Francisco and is currently living in the Boston area. He has travelled to many places in the world, the highlight being the former Soviet Union.
