WINTER SPIRIT CAMP FACILITATOR - Robert’s practice and Bangiola Protocol development began in 2006, when studying Cranial Sacral Therapy (CST) with the Upledger Institute.  He pursued CST to answer questions about his own unusual high physical sensitivity, and his sympathetic sensation, which enables him to actually feel what others feel in their bodies. Robert has also studied Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki, Mindful Caregiving at the Zen Hospice Project in San Francisco, Alexander Technique, and others, including the healing Bengston Method with Dr. Bill Bengston. Prior to opening Better Balance In Reach, Robert was an Art Manager. Helping artists better connect with their art and audiences, Robert’s resume includes NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, Materials for the Arts, BAM, Bard College, Disney, and he served as cultural envoy to Kenya with the US State Department. He learned a great deal about physical experience and expression, which is why his life-long passion for his stick table sculptures is so intimately tied to his mission of better balance in reach. Personally, Robert is a certified foster parent, a proud uncle 30 times, godfather and “guidefather.” “I learned lessons in the Americas, Asia, Europe and East and West Africa: natural and man-made places, some sacred, some unexpected, where I learned the depth of sensitivity and it’s ability to heal, provide comfort, and a dynamic body/mind comfort that is earthy, dynamic, and not at all fussy.” In sessions, Robert holds hands, or head, or feet.  He developed the Bangiola Protocol, a series of exercises based on three poses and three meridians, helping people of all capabilities become more aware of their body, and what it is telling them. Today he practices no-manipulation/no-motion touch treatment.  In fact, Robert opened Better Balance In Reach at the encouragement of some of his clients.

Balance Buckets.


In this workshop I introduce participants to Balance Buckets and address how the body fits together, and the important of grounding and balance for comfort, stress reduction and mind/body empowerment.   After sharing images of my art and letting participants create their own structures with the Balance Bucket, I lead exercises about body awareness and anatomy. I also discuss my career and my travels as they pertain to balance. Depending on the context and the intent, the feeling of body awareness can be relaxing, meditative or even energizing. Participants will leave the workshop with tools to become more grounded and balanced, which will enable them to feel comfortable and engaged in any setting.

 Body Balancing.  


In this workshop I use my protocol, the “Bangiola Protocol” to show participants how to align their bodies and find a comforting center of gravity and balance.  For this I used three meridians, and three types of poses: natural, go-to, and sacred poses. These poses help us find our comfort zones, and also how to better support natural stress and pain. This is great for individuals and groups of all capabilities. As a relaxation tool, or a way to get acquainted with another person or a group, this workshop has lasting effects.

Private Sessions



Sessions of 45 or 90 minutes  After talking, we will spend time in quiet, with my hands on your head, shoulders, hands or feet. Expect warmth, kindness and gentle touch on only these areas, and without ritual. My practice is unique, and there are many ways to measure its results.  While my treatments are no substitute for medical healing, sessions can be very productive.  Based on my personal work and studies of CranioSacral, Reiki, Palliative Care and other techniques including the Bengston Method, you can expect comfort and assisted relief from:

  • physical pain & fatigue
  • sport injury
  • pre and post surgery
  • posture related issues
  • cycle of life transitions 
  • addiction recovery
  • stress, confusion, anxiety & restlessness
