Writing from Real Life
A Weekend Workshop with Writer/Storyteller Judah Leblang
This weekend workshop is designed for writers at all levels, whether you already think of yourself as a “writer” or simply have a desire to shape pieces of your life experience into stories you can share with others.
In this interactive, hands-on small-group experience, we will:
Share snapshots of our life journeys as gay and bisexual men
Read excerpts from established writers, including gay writers such as Augusten Burroughs and Kevin Sessums
Loosen up our writing muscles through fun, accessible exercises
Explore how memory, humor, vulnerability, and personal truth can become compelling stories
Receive supportive feedback on our work
Develop an action plan to keep writing and express our creativity in the world
Whether you want to write essays, memoir, performance pieces, blog posts, or simply begin telling your story more clearly, this workshop offers a supportive space to begin, continue, or deepen your creative practice.

Our events de-emphasize alcohol and other legal substances. Some events may feature a reception or deck party where limited alcohol is available. While we do not require abstinence, we are interested in supporting conscious connections, and wellness in the lives of those we serve. We provide space for 12-step meetings for those who would like to attend them, and we support people making choices regarding their own well being. Illegal substances will not be tolerated.
