David Dunn Bauer
David is a spiritual counselor/chaplain, ritual and community leader, artist, touch healer, and author. His numerous writings on God, Queerness, and sexuality are published in anthologies and on-line. A graduate of Yale and Reconstructionist Rabbinical College (RRC), he is also the first Jew to earn the Certificate in Sexuality and Religion at Pacific School of Religion (PSR) in Berkeley, CA. He served for four years as Director of Social Justice Programming for Congregation Beth Simchat Torah in NYC. He has taught about Queer Judaism through different lenses at both RRC and PSR. As a scholar-in-residence has taught about Jewish Queer Sexual Ethics at synagogues, colleges, and conferences around the US and in Canada. He taught for Body Electric in 2004 and 2006 and has been teaching about safe, sacred, and sexy butt play for over a decade at Easton Mountain, for NYC HIV educators, and in a range of other venues and contexts. Before becoming a rabbi he enjoyed a 20-year, international career as a stage manager and stage director for theatre, ballet, and opera.
