This workshop seeks to develop knowledge and understanding of how to live an integrated life in one’s path of recovery by exploring various relational problems in our everyday lives. “Prayer and meditation” are powerful means of improving our connection with our Higher Power, and their gentle strength helps carry us into a space of sober living. In this workshop we weave the sense memories of our bodies into our practice of prayer and meditation. We start by remembering – whether from decades back or last week – the physical sensations of craving, compulsion, and intoxication.
What bodily symptoms of detox or withdrawal are most vivid for us?
We identify and focus on the newer sensations of sobriety.
We can each create personal prayer liturgies, addressed to whatever Higher Power we choose, that trace the history of bodily sensations from our addictive/compulsive lives, through our earliest days of abstinence or letting go, to the more comfortable and confident sensations of sober living.
We remain fully clothed for this workshop. There will be candid sharing with one or two partners. More with the whole group as you feel comfortable. Please bring a pen and a journal, if you keep one. Blank paper and workshop support forms will be available there.
