An 80’s themed winter retreat for GTBQ men !

Why were the 1980’s such a good time to remember?

The 1980s are often cherished for their vibrant pop culture, diverse music, technological breakthroughs, and unique fashion trends. With the arrival of MTV, iconic movies like “ET” and “Back to the Future”, and the rise of personal computers and video games, the decade offered a dynamic blend of entertainment and innovation. The era’s bold fashion, cinematic advancements, and significant social movements—such as HIV/AIDS awareness and the fall of the Berlin Wall—added to its distinctiveness. For many, the 1980s evoke a sense of nostalgia and fond memories, marking it as a truly standout time to have lived.

During Winter Gay Spirit Camp, we’ll use the 1980s as inspiration to reflect on what many of us lived through and, for those who weren’t born yet, to celebrate the legacy that our predecessors left, to bring us a fuller, more joyful life. We’ll discuss some of the most significant parts of our lives, how the ’80s shaped us as LGBTQ+ people, and the challenges HIV+ patients faced then and now—including advancements in treatment and honoring those we lost and their survivors. We’ll explore the progress of gay and lesbian rights, the history and resilience of the transgender and transsexual communities, ballroom culture (Vogue/Paris is Burning film), and the remarkable trajectory of drag.

Come and help us create a great future for our beloved Easton Mountain, approaching its 25th anniversary, while we celebrate the 1980’s with love and appreciation!

This quickly growing retreat has an open format where you get to pick and choose which workshops and activities to take part in. If you feel like adventure, head out to the pond for ice skating, hit the nearby slope for an afternoon of sledding or go on a winter hike. If you’re feeling cozy, stay warm by the fire, or unwind in the sauna or hot tub. We will also provide nourishment for your body, mind and spirit with yoga, massage exchange, a variety of workshops, a dance party and more! Don’t wait until Spring or Summer to enjoy the magic of Easton. The Winter months bring us a special kind of beauty and bliss, and we want to enjoy it with you!
