Mindful Movement: Connection, Awareness, and Joy

  • Fields Corner Yoga 1532B Dorchester Avenue Boston, MA, 02122 United States (map)

This workshop is for all bodies of all fitness levels. No experience necessary.

An important facet of identity is how we feel about our bodies. Many people feel increasingly disconnected from their physical selves due to lifestyles that keep us almost constantly engaged with technology rather than with our bodies. This challenge can be especially present for gay men, who often experience body dysmorphia and unrealistic expectations about appearance.

In this workshop, we will explore simple techniques to reconnect with our physical selves. We’ll begin with a body-focused meditation and then move into a fun, full-body movement routine.

Using primarily bodyweight exercises and resistance bands, this accessible routine can be adapted to any fitness level and easily practiced at home. More than just a routine, the focus is on body awareness, gratitude for everything our bodies do for us, and reconnecting with movement in a joyful way. Shirtlessness and dancing are encouraged, but not required.

As both a life coach and certified personal trainer, Alex brings a deep passion for the mind-body connection and for helping people reconnect with their bodies in supportive, empowering ways.

Cost: $20–$60 sliding scale per session per person
